法國賽馬會早前在莫艾誠7月19日策騎時的頭髮樣本發現對可卡因陽性反應，當時英國馬圈普遍相信誤會，並繼續策騎。11月結果出爐，並證實莫艾誠的接觸可卡因的原因是非本人責任。據多個來源是性行為與女伴接觸
莫艾誠停賽期由12月11日執行，直到2021年3月11日為止，不影響他參加杜拜世界盃賽馬日，但不能在杜拜世界盃嘉年華協助。莫艾誠在消息公佈不久後，承認是個人失誤。他不會提出上訴。
